SP took charge of managing the collections of Mineralogy in 1996. He established two main areas of research: detailed study of former mines in Luxembourg and study of rare mineral. In Luxembourg, his research culminates in the discovery of Luxembourgite in 2018.
Since 2005, SP has been involved in the study of Brazilian pegmatites. Collaboration with Pr. Cassedanne led to the publication of a monograph and the donation of his scientific collection. Field works led to the description of new species: Qingheiite-(Fe2+) 2009 and Wilancookite 2015. The study of the collections also leads to new discoveries: Lepersonnite-(Nd) 2021, Pendevilleite-(Y) 2022 and Yttrotungstite-(Nd) 2023. The discovery of new species brings international recognition to our museum.
