Dragonflies, important aquatic organisms, are considered valuable bioindicators of water quality. Nearly 20 years have passed since the publication of the last Red List (Proess, 2006).

Since then, some species have recovered significantly in Luxembourg, while others have become even rarer. This is why a team from the National Museum of Natural History is working on a new Red List of the dragonflies of Luxembourg.

In the first phase, only water bodies that were already studied at the beginning of the century will be analysed, in order to compare changes in dragonfly fauna in these waters.

It is also planned to study some of the many recently created standing‑water bodies.
