AMSTer: SAR & InSAR Automated Mass processing Software for Multidimensional Time series

Section: Geophysics

Research strategy: Understanding and Preserving Nature

The AMSTer programme is an open‑source software tool designed to automate the large‑scale processing of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and radar interferometry (InSAR) data. It makes it possible to generate multidimensional time series for monitoring ground deformation. This unique software tool is capable of performing automatic and incremental calculations of ground deformation by combining any type of satellite radar image (SAR).

AMSTer aims to automate the entire SAR/InSAR data‑processing workflow, from downloading satellite images from various satellite sources to producing two‑ or three‑dimensional ground‑deformation time series (vertical and horizontal). This enables rapid and continuous monitoring of geophysical phenomena such as tectonic movements, volcanoes, landslides or ground subsidence.
