Eric Buttini leads the Centre for Earth Sciences, where scientists from the Museum and the ‘European Centre for Geodynamics and Seismology’ (ECGS) carry out research into seismology, crustal deformation and volcano monitoring. Eric Buttini also takes part in participatory astrophysics projects aimed at observing minor bodies in the Solar System (asteroids, comets).

A large part of his working time is also devoted to science outreach, through the design and supervision of exhibitions and the presentation of introductory astronomy shows in the museum’s travelling planetarium.

Finally, Eric Buttini also manages the MNHNL’s meteorite collection.
