DNA and Plant Tissue

DNA and Plant Tissue Collections of the MNHNL

The museum houses an extensive collection of DNA samples gathered through various scientific projects, forming a valuable resource for both current and future research. These samples, stored predominantly at a temperature of –20°C, are carefully preserved to ensure their long-term integrity.

In parallel, the plant specimens collected for DNA purposes within these projects are kept in dried form, in an environment protected from humidity -- an essential condition for preventing their degradation. All of these specimens, whether DNA or tissue samples, are incorporated into the museum’s database, thereby facilitating their traceability and future consultation.
