Les ophiures sont des invertébrés marins étroitement liés aux étoiles de mer et représentent une part importante de la faune des fonds marins des océans du monde entier.

 

Leur registre fossile très riche en fait un organisme modèle idéal pour étudier les tendances évolutives à grande échelle ainsi que les liens entre la biodiversité et l'histoire de la Terre.

 

La section de paléontologie du Musée national d'histoire naturelle a acquis ces dernières années une expertise internationalement reconnue dans l'étude des ophiures. Avec ce projet, nous continuons à développer cette expertise et étudions le registre fossile des ophiures afin de contribuer à une meilleure compréhension de l’évolution de la vie.
